Piedmont Park is an urban park in Atlanta, Georgia, located about a mile northeast of downtown, between the Midtown and Virginia Highland neighborhoods. The 189-acre park has sports facilities, a dog park, and Lake Clara Meer, with views of the Midtown skyline. The park hosts many festivals and events.
Originally, the land belonged to Dr. Benjamin Walker, who used it as his farm and residence. In 1887, he sold the land to the Gentlemen's Driving Club, who wanted to establish a club and racing ground for horse enthusiasts. The Driving Club agreed with the Piedmont Exposition Company, led by Charles A. Collier, to use the land for fairs and expositions, later giving the park its name.
